2. Installing the WIBU-KEY Server for ArchiCAD 8

Note: Before you install the WIBU-KEY application switch off all power management tools on the server computer.

• Launch WkRt-Int.exe for installation
  
• Leave all settings unmodified (i.e. Don't check the "Install as NT Service" option)
  
• Attach your WIBU hardware key to your server computer

3. Starting the WIBU-KEY Server

Launch the Network Server program from the Start menu\Programs\Wibu-key menu

4. Known problems

• WIBU KeyServer 3.3 doesn't start on Windows 2000 or Windows XP

  When trying to start the WIBU KeyServer 3.3 on Windows 2000 or Windows XP as a non-administrator user, the following warning is displayed:

  "Runtime Error!
  Program: c:\Program Files\WIBUKEY\Server\WkSvW32.exe abnormal program termination"

  Reason: The WIBU KeyServer 3.3 has to be started with administrator rights on these platforms.

• "Protection key not found or not valid." error message during ArchiCAD launch

  This malfunction may occur if there is no DNS server in the network.
  In this case the ArchiCAD clients may fail to find the network dongle.

  Workaround:
  Check the server computer's IP address with the IPCONFIG command from the command prompt.
  On the Windows client computer, set the server's IP address on the Start menu>Settings>Control Panel>WIBU-KEY program >Network tab page.
  On the Macintosh client computer, set the server's IP address in the
  System volume>Library>Frameworks>WkMacLibX.framework>WIBUKEY.INI file manually to this value:

  [WkLAN Client section]
  Server1= *
  * means the Server's IP address

  Note: Always install the WIBU server on a computer that has a fixed IP address!

• On a standalone computer ArchiCAD doesn't recognize the NET WIBUKEY.

  Workaround:
  Set the server's IP address on the Start menu>Settings>Control Panel>WIBU-KEY program >Network tab page to 127.0.0.1.

• The Timeout setting doesn't prevail

  Due to an ArchiCAD 8 bug, the WIBU server's Time Out value doesn't prevail. ArchiCAD keeps alive the slot reservation even if it is minimized or running inactively in the background.

5. Known limitations

• The parallel running ArchiCAD 7.0 and 8 reserve 2 slots from the available network licenses.

• This version of WIBU-Key Server doesn't support more than one NET key on the server computer.

• Using Power Management tools on Windows 2000/XP or on laptop machines may cancel the connection to the WIBU Server
